Sunny Roofing’s Dong Mo now in a Toronto jail
The "roofing contractor" received his prison sentence on Nov. 23
Alec Caldwell wrote an article about the illegalities of Sunny Roofing, Ontario, two years ago. Here is his update.
I thought I’d update how Sunny Roofing (Dong Mo) is continuing his lack of care for his workers.
Seems some people never learn, and Dong Mo is one of these people who simply don’t get the message and blatantly ignore Ministry of Labour inspectors’ safety orders. Not following safety laws means Dong Mo is currently under lock and key for 20 days in a Toronto jail. Dong Mo was handed down this prison sentence on Nov. 23, 2017 for putting his workers’ lives at risk by failing to comply with safety regulations on Sept. 25, 2016.
In 2015 Dong Mo was prosecuted (twice) for the same lack of the safety practices on residential reshingling. At that time his fines totalled $58,750. He allowed his workers to work without fall safety equipment while Working at Heights and not wearing hard hats, as required under the Ontario Occupational Health & Safety Act, Regulation 213/91.
